Description Small under floor safes are fairly rare these days and its all got to do with termites, over the last 35 years I have seen the array of inground or underfloor safes available dwindle. This closely mirrors the number of safe manufacturers that made safes over the same period as there is now only CMI safe company in Sydney. The theories vary as to why the safe makers have closed their doors however Chinese welders certainly are cheaper to employ than Australian ones. Now back to termites, all those years ago people bought and sold houses with less emphasis on pest inspections but today hardly anyone would buy a house without one. Additionally any new home that is built must be certified it has been built to protect it from termites and if a floor safe is installed after this point the termite certification will be voided if the floor safe install is not done correctly. If the safe is installed at the same time the slab is poured the builder will gleefully include them as part of the certification but these days fewer people are installing floor safes after the slab is done for fear of compromising the termite certification. We stock a large range of under floor safes however the most popular size tends to be around 300 mm cubed as large floor safes are harder to install (a much bigger hole must be dug ) as well as being difficult to get items out of if you have standard sized arms. We do however stock one small underfloor safe which is made in China. It measures 320 mm from base to top and is 240 mm the other 2 axises. It comes standard with a LaGard 3 wheel combination and can be upgraded to a digital lock for an additional fee. The body is made from 5 mm mild steel and the head or lid is made from12mm mild steel plate with additional anti drill hard plate. A relocking device is fitted and is activated if a criminal attempts to smash the lock off.
